Installation

Though Simple Site is very easy to use, and requires little computer knowledge, the installation is a little more complicated (luckily, it only needs to be done once). It is recommended that you consult your website administrator or hosting company for assistance with the installation.

The installation steps are (before installing, please ensure your web server meets the system requirements):

  1. Unzip the 'simpsite.zip' file that was sent to you when you purchased Simple Site.
  2. Upload the files to your web server.
  3. Use your MySQL administration component, or ask your website administrator or hosting company, to do the following (for security reasons, we recommend you don't use the exact values suggested below):
    • Create a new database called 'CMS' (use something similar and remember this for later).
    • Create a new database user called 'CMSEditor' (use something similar and remember this (and the password) for later).
    • Add the user, 'CMSEditor', to the database, 'CMS', with the following permissions:
      • CREATE
      • SELECT
      • INSERT
      • UPDATE
      • DELETE
  4. Upload the 'config.htm' file that was sent to you when you purchased Simple Site to the 'admin/includes' subfolder of the location you installed Simple Site.
  5. Run the 'install.php' file, located in the 'admin' subfolder of the location you installed Simple Site, from your web browser (e.g. 'http://www.example.com/admin/install.php'). This will guide you through the rest of the installation process.
